Piping Cost Data, Caribbean

Hello,

I have to cost out the piping system for a constuction project located in the Caribbean.

Is anyone aware of Mechanical Cost Data adjusting factors for construction sites in the caribbean, in particular, Anguilla Island?

I have the 2003 RSMeans Mechanical Cost Data Manual.

Any thougts?

Is the cost estimate including all material or installation only? Also, what is the purpose of the estimate - is it for a competitive bid or for a client to look at alternatives? Have you been given direction on the estimate as far as accuracy?

We're looking for a rough estimate of Material and Labor costs to provide the developer. We are not providing an estimate for bid.

We work with an ASME shop in Trinidad and their costs are 70 - 90% of those in the US, depending on the size of the project.

What I would do is take widla's information and also check a few material costs & compare them to your 2003 cost data and that should give you an idea of how to escalate it. I would look at materials and labor separately and not try and come up with a single factor. Local labor rates can be compared to what is in Means for a labor factor.

Then use your Means to come up with a cost and use your factors to get to a rough 2008 estimate. I would also docuement the estimate assumptions.

I would not fotget the extremly high ex-pat charge rates. On the island of Trinidad I find it to be a minimum double of stateside comparable costs. As all these types of projects normally involve heavy ex-pat involvement this cost should be looked at.
