Does anyone know of good training resource for acoustical piping vibration? This seems to be a very specialized subject with very little real information on the web. I have GMRC's Pulsation & Vibration Short Course but I am looking for others.

Thanks,

Lucas,M.J. etal, 1997, "Handbook of the Acoustic Characteristics of Turbomachinery Cavities", ASME Press has three chapters on Acoustic Filters and Networks, Sound Propagation in Pipes with No Mean Flow, and Standing Wave Modes in Ducts with Mean Flow. Also Au Yang, M.K.,2001, "Flow-Induced Vibrations of Power and Process Plant Components", ASME Press has several sections dealing with pipe noise and vibration. There are many published technical papers on the subject.

At the following link three of the papers mention acoustical vibration

For a particular article, click on the link and look for pdf icon near upper right of screen. If it there you can download the article (some but not all of those articles are available).

It's hard to tell what your exact application area is (or even if you are concerned with the vibration of the pipes or what's inside them). If it's the contents of the pipes, this is a good evergreen:

jcfoley,

Another textbook reference you could check out is "Fundamentals of Noise and Vibration Analysis for Engineers", second edition, by Norton & Karczub. Amazon will allow you to preview some of it and then you could see if it applies to what you are doing. Here is a link to Amazon and the book.
