Could I ask, what national / international standards are people using for design of pipe supports?
In the UK we had BS3974 but this is long withdrawn but not, as far as I can tell, not been replaced.
I’ve also seen reference elsewhere to ANSI MSS SP-58. Was wondering if this is a suitable alternative to BS3974?
Thanks!

If you're talking about these,
Types+of+pipe+supports+(MSS+SP-58).jpg

then SP-58

If you're talking about pipe rack types of supports,

then in the US, for steel it would be AISC 7
For concrete, ACI-318

The governing standard for pipe support design is the piping code used for the system.

In the US, it is typically ASME B31.1 and B31.3... The piping codes reference all of the dimensonal and hardware codes you seem to be familiar with

Some additional help.

MJC still have the book?

2. MSS SP-69 Pipe Hangers (Clevis Type) and Supports – Selection and

1503-44...

That post was sixteen years ago ... I gave away the book and am old and sick now

Your list is very comprehensive and useful ....

But, I would suggest that you add the vital information in the "Piping Handbook" and some of that ancient information published by GRINNELL (now ANCHOR)

The world really needs a comprehensive new book about pipe support design

Sorry to hear that.
