I thought this might be of interest to some. This Pond Eddy Bridge is now going to be replaced. One of the rare examples of a Petit pinned truss bridges still standing. It has connected NY and PA for over 100 years across the Delaware River.
Another old one in the same area is a Roebling built aquaduct [now vehicle bridge] of his suspension design from 1848 !

Robert:

Thanks for the link, a great site to visit.

Any word on what will become of the old bridge?

The discussions of what to do have been going on for 10 years. They had been looking for a buyer but I haven't heard of any .Meantime the single lane bridge has been degraded as far as carrying capacity and emergency vehicles can't use the bridge .Buy it and put it in your backyard !

I live about an hour away; PennDoT wouldn't have to go far to ship it. Sometimes, DoT's give them away for free. There have been projects where they would even dismantle and ship the bridge.
