Good evening!
I've got some auger cast piles close to the edge of my pile cap and would like to confirm that the pile cap has sufficient lateral breakout capacity. The approach that I've used thus far is to use the AISC Base Plate Design Guide approach for shear key breakout design, but not sure if I'm overlooking anything that would disqualify the approach for pile breakout, (e.g. are there any concerns with my pile being round relative to the flat shear key plate approach)?
I'd be grateful for any guidance on what the limit state checks look like per ACI 318-19 as I'm having trouble locating anything that covers this specific condition.
Many thanks in advance!
