Hello,

I am trying to perform the pile integrity test (PIT) on several drilled shafts.

I am using the PIT equipment from GRL and software PIT-W 2003.

What I don;t understand very well is how do I compute or obtain the wave velocity on the piles along its total depth?. This is the one i need in order to compare to a standard good quality concrete pile velocity (around 4000 m/sec or 13000 ft/sec).

If anyone was any idea, please let me know.

I am no expert on this but I suspect that you need to obtain the shear wave velocity of the concrete by another method to enter in to PIT-W. You may want to state the purpose of your PIT so you can get a specific answer. Is it to determine lenght of existing shaft or looking for necking/inclusions?
 
It gives you an estimate of the pile length.

Also it gives the pile concrete velocity, which is the one you compare with an standard good quality concrete (around 12500 ft/sec).
