Piezoelectric Circuits in ABAQUS

Hello all,

I'm trying to model a piezoelectric circuit in ABAQUS. So far I've been able to define the static problem and validate it based on previous work developed in ANSYS software.
However, when it comes to the dynamic part of my analysis, I'm having a hard time in modelling a resistor that can close the piezoelectric circuit so that a time-dependent analysis can be carried out.
Is there any simple way to model this resistor? I'm currently looking into UMAT and UEL subroutines, but I haven't found all that much on the subject.
