Hello,

I'm looking for a way to catch phase failures from the connections welding shut. My initial thought was to test all three phases for current after the connections were opened. If I still had current flow in any phase, then I would know if there was a weld. I was told that this would only work if at least two of the phases stayed shut. I was wondering if this is in fact true.

Thank you

Yes. True - sometimes, if you only have load between lines. But, if you have load from line to neutral, you will surely see current also if only that single pole is welded.

Thank you for the reply Skogsgurra. This is a delta connection, therefore there is no neutral point.
