In PDM/Works, has anyone else seen the error message "Cannot open file (FILE NAME), too many files open". This normally results in SolidWorks hanging and/or crashing.

Is this a setting change?

thanks

I have not seen "Cannot open file (FILE NAME), too many files open" since we upgrade from Windows 98 and got better workstations with lots of memory, not desktop computers.
What OS and computer are you using?

Sounds like a Windows error.

I don't think it is a hardware problem - our workstations are all 1-2 years old with minimum 512 RAM, and running Windows XP.

Our VAR is visiting today so will discuss with him too.

Thanks

Running ANY CAD system on 512MB of memory is asking for an out-of-memory error. 1GB is a recommended minimum and we put 2GB in our CAD workstations.
