PDMWorks on NAS?

I'd swear I've installed PDMWorks on a NAS drive before, but it's kicking my @$$ this time....

We don't have an actual network here, more of a 'home' network with no server, just a big switch tied in to existing cabling. We just bought a 4TB NAS drive, which is up and running. I've mapped to it, but the install manager won't recognize it any longer. I say 'any longer' as I did get it to install once, but then had problems turning on the service so I removed it to start over.

Has anyone done this successfully? Again, I'd swear I did it about 3 years ago but can't, for the life of me, remember how.

Ok, I'm getting closer. I have the vault installed, and the service is running. However, I can't get the other client computer to login to the vault or, more precisely, to be able to find the vault service. The vault is located on the NAS drive, the service is running on my PC. I've shared everything I can think to share, I killed the firewall and nada. The other PC returns an error about not finding the service or the service not running. Yes, the service is running...ideas? Anyone?

Make sure you are using the computer name that has the service running as the vault computer not the NAS. Did you change the network port when you installed the vault software?

GRF,
I did, and yes.
In talking with some others, it appears to be some sort of Win7 permissions issue. We're not running more of a home network (no server) versus a typical work network. Part of being a smaller company I guess...

I can not remember what OS (XP server or Server 200?) our vault is running on, but I am accessing from a Windows 7 system just fine.

If you are under service I am sure your reseller would be able to help you out.

I have worked at company with 10's of thousands of employees (part of siemens) and we had a PDM vault for our facility running on a XP workstation that originally came with Windows 2000 workstation so size of company is not your problem.
