Has anyone else had a problem with opening pdfs generated from SolidWorks with programs other than Adobe? We have Myriad and AutoVue here, and both have a major issue opening these pdfs, but Adobe is fine. AutoVue is set to be our systems main viewing software and markup utility.

Anyone else have an issue?

Hello John,

Are you creating 3D PDFs? If so, it is possible that other viewers have issues with this.

regards,

nope, just plain old drawings. Doesn't matter it they are simple or complicated, all the text goes nuts. The lines seem to be okay.

We use AutoVue as well (as part of our PLM system), could you please provide some more specifics regarding your software versions? SW200X, AutoVuew, etc.

This seems to be a font issue. I am thinking that perhaps AutoVue does not recognize the font you are using in SolidWorks. Couple things to do: find out what font you are using in SolidWorks, try a different font in SolidWorks and then create a PDF.. of course you may want to contact your AutoVue and SolidWorks resellers for their input.

problem solved guys. Can't believe I didn't think of this one, I must be slippin'. Pdf options "embed font" was unchecked. The user having the problem unchecked it for some reason or another. So much for big problem. We have alot of users here, many with little to no experience before coming here. It wasn't the case here, but you can imagine what I'm up against....

Thanks,

John
