I am new to the world of potting PCBs. Where can I find, website or book, for general guidelines to follow when selecting the encapsulation material? The board will input 280VAC max and be no more than 4W out. Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.

You find the informational material at the companies who sell it since it is highly dependant on each recipe.

Master Bond is one (hideously expensive [over priced] source).
Humiseal is a good company.
3M is another.
MG Corporation is probably the most reasonable priced stuff. Works well for me.

I'm sorry obruno I was distracted between going to the chemical cabinet and returning to my answering you and hence forgot the "chemical" in 'MG Chemical'.

MGChemicals, Ltd.

A very good company with an excellant web site and 1/5 the prices of "Master rippoff".
