Hi All NX Expert,

I am just developping an interesting part showing this option and before opening a call to GTAC I would like to have your opinion about the behaviour of this function.

Edit the Pattern Linear
Add the feature substract

==> all occurrences of sketch move and the result is bad of course

(Remark: Edit Feature Playback give the same result)

I also tried to create a point before the sketch_000 with the same issue.

Thanks in advance to your feedback

Note sure what the problem is that you're describing. That being said, look at the attached part file to see if this is what you're looking for.

Hi John

You have got the same bad result by moving the substract after.

Open your part,
blank all solids and datums

Then have a look at the position of sections relative to the intersections

Try also to increase the instance number

OK, is this any better (see attached model)?

The approach that you took would not work since you were making a linear Pattern which means that it's actually LINEAR (the intersection points are not taken into consideration). The approach I took requires two separate Pattern features, a 'linear' one for the Datums and Intersection curves, and the second 'general' Pattern of the Sketch referencing a 'Point Set' created from the intersection of the Datums with the profile of the variational Sweep. Granted, this then required that each subsequent Swept body be created as a separate feature. Of course, once created, they could all be Subtracted at once.

While I suspect that this is not as simple as you have liked it to be, I do think that it's actually the model that you were expecting, correct?

Hi John

The result topology is correct. I have already done this using instance geometry with point to point method.

But I would like to have a very simple MNT using Pattern Feature.

You say " the intersection points are not taken into consideration " but my part was saved with a correct position of the different instances, then try feature playback on my part ?

So, I will open a PR or maybe an ER

Well if you can provide an example where the position of the sketch changes as the result of doing a 'playback' then that definitely would be cause for having a PR be opened by GTAC.
