Pattern and Hole Wizard Disorientation. 1

Right now I'm trying to put a dimple into a sheet metal part and patterning it. I'm getting the dimple from the library and then dimensioning it to the part edges.

This works fine.

When I go to pattern it, the first dimension doesn't allow me to reverse its direstion. After completing the pattern, no pattern is created. If I double click the pattern in the model tree, the first pattern dim goes off the part in the z direction instead of from the edge.

I've also had problems dimmensioning Hole Wizzard holes. Normal to the sketch is in the wrong orientation.

These problems all started today.

Has anyone else had these problems? Are they related?

If you are running SP0.0 then the first thing to do is upgrade the the latest SP, because it's hard to say if they were broken in SP0.0 but it might be fixed in SP4.0.

I would still upgrade to SP4.0 if you can and try running a modify on your install. Also if you haven't already contact your VAR and send them an RX of the issue.

I've just tried the dimple pattern with SW05-SP0.0 & had no problems. Have also had no problems with HW.

Where are you trying to reverse the direction? You cannot do it from the dimension itself, but should be able to from the dialogue box in the Feature Manager section.

Have you tried using the SM edges for direction, instead of the dimensions?

I don't have 4.0 available right now and we'll soon be switching over to 2006.

Picking the edges instead of the dimensions worked.

I have a feeling that the problem lies in the fact that the part is sheet metal and has a few unbends/rebends in it. I think it's having trouble with the directions.

When I picked the first direction dimension, the reverse direction arrow in the dialog box is greyed out.

Yeah, when you unbend and then rebend, make sure you select the same fixed face or your part will be reoriented.
