Guys, do anyone has knowledge in calculating weld capacity for PJP weld across its length and size. Also, we can assume For CJP weld, no need to calculate weld capacity as it takes the full capacity of joining metals?.

Thanks in advance!!

Most of the questions you've posted have been with regard to AISC, so I'll start there. Chapter J has the design equations you need. AWS D1.1 will give you the dimensions to use to calculate throat, etc. The SCM weld section has a few pre-qualified weld details that may be of use to you.

For a CJP, you don't need to check the weld metal as long as the filler is properly matched to the base material, but you do need to check the base material.

Yeah, thanks for the info, I don't familiar with AISC as far as I know CISC standard. But more interested in that.

Thanks in advance!!
