Part file always opens when assembly is opened

We have a particular part file that is used in one subassembly. This subassembly is used in many larger assemblies. Every time we open any of the larger assemblies – which is quite often – this one part file opens in the background. I don’t want it to open however. It's the only part that opens.

Does anyone know of a setting in the part or maybe in the subassembly I may have accidentally checked that would cause this to happen? I guess it could conceivably be in our document management system, Conisio, which no one here probably has or can comment on, but I’m pretty sure it’s something within SolidWorks causing it to happen.

Thanks for any ideas.

Not positive that this is your issue. But I have these options set as goes reference documents.

Go to Tools > Options > Systems Options > External References and at the Load reference document option, select None or Prompt.

I recommend the Prompt option so that you are informed when a file is being referenced.

Good point.

As you may or may not see though in my terrible image I have that same option set at NEVER.

Thanks. I switched that option to NONE and it took care of it.

I still wanted to find the root cause of the problem so I switched that option back to CHANGED ONLY, opened the file and subassembly and re-saved everything, and I doubled checked all references. It was still opening when I opened the sub-assembly. I then tried a ctrl-Q forced rebuild on the part and sub-assembly and it appears to have fixed the issue.

Thanks for the help.
