Hi
I am building part families, to make a lot of drawings. For some parts I will turn off features that are dimensioned. Is there a way to turn on and off, or hide un-hide, dimensions from excel?

Yes, just like with features, you can set up 'Suppress by Expression' schemes where an expression value (0 = suppressed, 1 = unsuppressed) can be used to 'show/hide' notes and dimensions on the face of a Drawing. And then these Expressions can be captured in the Family Table just like any other feature related expression.

To find this function, while in Drafting, go to...

Edit -> Suppress Drafting Object...

Note that if there are several dimensions that you wish to control at once, when setting up the Expression using the above function, you're allowed to include as many drafting objects as you wish so that a single expression could control the visibility of a large number of items at once.

Hi John,
That's what I was looking for and it works.

After adding "Suppress Drafting Object" to a note or dimension, is there a way to remove the "Suppress Drafting Object"?

I can't find one. Sorry, I'll have to ask around.

Hi
We are still using NX v6.0.5.3

If there is no way to remove the "Suppress Drafting Object", I can think of some work flows that can be used. We could delete the object and recreate it. In most case part families drawings are simple.

OK, it's so simple I missed it.

Just go back into the...

Edit -> Suppress Drafting Object...

...function, select the 'Expression' button and when the list of expressions comes-up, select the expression that you used to control the Suppression and hit OK. You will now see the dimensions and notes associated with this 'suppression expreesion' highlighted on the screen (if they're NOT suppressed of course). Simply 'Shift-Select', to de-select, the ones that you want to remove from this 'suppression' assignment, which can be all of them if you wish, and hit OK. Now that was easy ;-)
