Parapet?

This is a new facade for mall. It projects about 15' above the roof deck. The EOR provided this detail. Would you consider this a parapet for wind loading or due to its height, would it be considered some other type of structure? (like a freestanding sign). The wind loads end up being pretty huge on it if treated like a parapet. I am only doing the C&C calcs. on the individual members. The EOR is handling the MWFRS on the mall (don't really know how he will get that to work out)

From having seen similar construction going on near my house, I would consider it a parapet for wind (and snow) loading calculations.

You could say it's a parapet, but it looks more like a mansard to me with the vertical extension below the roofline.

How is that treated in ASCE 7-10 under C&C? I do not see any design info for mansards.

It's a parapet. You would treat a mansard as a sloped roof.
