Panel Zone Properties

Anyone knows how the propertiees for panel zones are obtained when assigning panel zones to a joint (Assign > Joint > Panel Zones > Elastic Properties from column)? Is it based on the simple model proposed by Krawinkler? I cannot find any info about that in either the reference manuals or the Help.
