Hi,

As part of my university thesis, I'm trying to do a nonlinear analysis on an equivalent frame masonry structure in 2D (SAP2000).
With the simplified model below, I want to test the interaction between the top and bottom beam, so I can apply this to my more advanced model.

I am manually controlling my ground settlement with the bottom beam with assigned displacements at the supports as shown in the picture below.
The masonry structure is here represented by the top beam.

I want to link the circled node with the node that displaces 2 meter with the following condition:
- The top beam is deflecting under its own stiffness, but the gap at the nodes is not allowed to be smaller than the initial 1 meter. So the circled node is allowed to deflect max. 2 meter.

I presume I can do this with either a gap or hook link, but I have no experience with using these elements in SAP2000.
Does anyone know how to apply the correct link property data to make this work?

Many thanks,

Wesley
