Painting Sockets

I've got several airtool sockets that I want to paint different colors. I've tried acrylic paint with several coats of sealer, but the paint wears off quite quickly as the sockets are handled.
Does anyone know of a durable coating (maybe teflon based) that would come in different colors and stand up to frequent handling ?

Are the sockets coated with chromium? That could affect the adhesion of other coatings and would be useful to know before recommending one.

A couple of the sockets have a chrome finish but most have an industrial finish.
