Hello everybody,
I'm searching for documentation about the requirements of dissipativ painting for steel baseplates and steel deck covering in hazardous area (especially the IIC Zone) , to avoid the risk of static electricity build-up and discharge:
- Can the static electrity really build-up on the painted surface of baseplates and deck covers, even if these materials are in steel and grounded? I think there is rules on painting thickness for IIC zone (~200 microns) -> if this criteria is respected, is a dissipativ painting required (is it applicable to steel supports, baseplates...etc?)
- Do you have some documentation (norms, eégulations) about this subject to transmit? By reading the IEC-60079 and NFPA-77 I don't find any requirements about dissipativ painting for supports, cover plates, baseplates...etc when not in contact with electrical device.
Thank you if you could help me

That depends on what you are trying to achieve. You seemingly have a requirement to reduce any induced static voltages to less than 30V, don't you? Paints are insulators and static charge prone, and their dielectric strengths will not dissipate a 30V surface charge.
