I´m selecting an oring for an application in whicj the fluid process is ethane/butane and the barrier fluid is methanol. The process temperature is very low (6°F). Viton was at first used but they burned. Which was would you recommend

Why not contact Parker Hannifin? They are the best.

Viton is suitable for Ethane, Butane and Methanol. If they "burned" it might have been from something else. You better define "burned" for us.

Make sure they were in fact Viton, but most elastomers are compatable with these gasses.

If you are using Viton at 6F you will have problems. Viton doesn't like it that cold.

you can ttv 'O' ring ie Teflon coated viton 'O' Rings
