Is there an option somewhere that ignores the "Do you want to open document(s) read-only?" dialog? If I open multiple parts from PDM that are checked in and all I want to do is view them, I have to click OK for each one. I looked through the options but didn't see it.

Recommended for you

Code:
Tools --> Options --> System options --> External references --> Open referenced documents with read-only access

I think if you have this checked it mutes that message.

gopack,

Sounds almost like you are trying to take ownership of something you don't have rights to. If all you are doing is opening a file for viewing it should open with read only access by default.

Dekker, I'm not trying to take control of anything, I just want to open some files. I understand it will be read only, but why must SolidWorks tell me every single time? If I want to open 10 parts, I select all 10 and drag them into SolidWorks. Now I have to click OK 10 times just to open them. I'm just trying to avoid the message, not open them with full access. So one would think there would be a check box for "Don't show me this message again" just like every other message that pops up.

And TheTick, that option does not ignore the message.

TheTick,
"Tools --> Options --> System options --> External references --> Open referenced documents with read-only access" only marks as Read Only, the documents that are referenced by the documents-being-opened, not the documents-being-opened themselves.

[ponder] ... I think ... but it's not very well, umm, documented. [smile]

I know how it works. We have this set on all our stations. No one gets the dialog gopack mentions, even when loading protected files. However, our vault protection is by Windows settings, not by PDM.

Maybe it's a PDM setting?
