I need one of the senior gear people to verify something for me.
That the older model (1960-1970's) Manual Fellow's Gear Shapers didn't have any seal on any shafts in the machine. The shafts penetrated the machine frame.
The lubricating oil was allowed to flow freely around the shafts and run into small catch basins on the side of the machine that drained back to the oil sump.
