Years ago in the Old I-Deas days, there was an issue that when you focused a line (NX project Curve command) the line became super super long. (I-Deas master Series 5 or 8) So now with our parts coming over from I-deas, and now using NX, when you do a fit, all you see are these blue lines that are very long. Please attached. Any good solution to this issue? Also this really plays well with your center of rotation with your spaceball. This tosses your center of rotation all over the place.

Are you saying that these are artifacts from the Ideas model? If they're seen as curves in the Ideas model I would suspect that when the models are converted to NX that they are converted as well since NX has no way of knowing whether the curves are legitimate parts of the model or not.

Are the lines still parametric / Associative ? ( After the migration )
If not, or if you can live with killing the associativity,
Somebody with programming knowledge should be able to create a program that trims away everything outside a predefined sphere.
i.e Sphere size = xx, center at XYZ, If line = longer than 2xx = trim .

In I-deas one was not able to dimension to anything in a sketch with out focusing the object first. For Example if you wanted to dimension back to the Coordinate system you had to focus the axis of the coordinate system. In a couple version of I-Deas when you did this focus, these curves became super long.

Yes all of these should have sketch dimensions, constraints and or associativity to control our sketches.

It makes sense of why these curves come over from I-Deas.

Just curious if anyone else has ran into this issue?

I thought John showed a new enhancement in NX10?? when you rotate your model it rotated about the solid and not any of the extra lines, surfaces or what have ya?

Thanks for the feedback.

The rotation enhancement was in NX 9.0 but it's not keying off only the Solid bodies but rather whatever geometry is present on the screen.
