sometimes you can find books like that on ebay. I have purchased several old structural text books, AISC and ACI manuals on there. Also, Alibris books ( has used books but might not have one that old.

Lothers, 2nd ed, is a text which I still have from university days and occasionally use. So I am hanging on to mine. Looks like from the link Ron gave that it is easily obtainable.

I am not sure of edition # but thats what I studied in engineering school in 1987-88

Thanks Ron
I tried the book sites but it appearsthey will not ship tp Canada. Oh well !

I got a copy (unfortunately from an engineer who passed away) and it' pretty good. Good examples, real life cases, analyze and design.

As a matter of interest what's so special about this book?

Two things are special
1. Sentimental ...I used it in when I was in engineering school in 1955 ha hah

I can relate to that.

My favourite text books at school in 1979 was "Timoshenko and Young Theory of Structures" and "Brezler, Lin and Scalzi Design of Steel structures" I still have them in my library and wouldn't be without them even if there hopelessly outdated.

Hope you find it eventually.
