I am working on a project that require adding some pipe supports for 2" and 4" pipes to an existing offshore facility(Platform). we designed 100% welded connections (both shop welds and field welds). The client is asking for an alternative connection system, so as to avoid or optimise shutdown.

I thought of beam clamps and/or hangers and bolted connetions. I cant find a code that gives exceptions to 'no bolted connections offshore'.

I would like some ideas pls. thanks.

Sorry but your problem is not clear to me.
Do your "supports" interfere with the fluids inside the pipes?
Why should the application of your welded solution require shutdown?
Are you sure that your bolted solution represents a forbidden connection?

I appreciate your inputs all.

goahead, my pipe supports do not interfare with fluids inside pipes. but it is a requirement that there should be a minimum of 5ft between any welding operation and a live pipe. and the facility is such that one cannot guarantee that space.

Bolted connections too required a level of hotwork. because there will be significant drilling of existing steel to fix the new supports.

However, because of tight schedule, i have started working on bolted connections.
