HI, Everyone,

When working in Autocad 2004 paper space, I was trying to use object snap in model space to precisely locate a point but could not make it. Could anyone tell me if I should be able to do that? If not, is there any other way to precisely locate a point in paper space?

Thanks,

You should be able to snap on the model space objects while you are in Paper space. Of course, check to make sure that you have osnap "on" (sorry for the simplicity of this...). If you cannot, perhaps the object that you want to snap to is in defpoints layer and the layer "0" (zero) is off or frozen. Check and see. Good luck.

I have found that snapping from paper space to model space in R2004 does not give you correct distances using the DISTANCE command or buttons. However, dimensioning from paper space to snap points in model space works just fine. Of course, set DIMASSOC to 2.

I've had problems with AutoCAD occasionally being unable to find a snap point in version 2002. This has happened in both model space and paperspace. While large drawings with many overlapping snaps are a known issue, I often experience the problem in pretty simple drawings.

My work around is to create construction lines or use .xy filters to get the point I want using objects I can successfully snap to.
