Does anyone know how to specify the use of a nylon patch on a threaded portion of a fabricated part?

Start by getting a copy of MIL-DTL-18240 - freely available from many sources on the web.

Good suggestion from Mint. Another is to refer to standards from the Industrial Fasteners Institute, such as IFI-100, 101, 107, 545, etc.

The above are good, this or similar has come up before, I think someone may have even given the link to the mil std (which is how we used to call it up at a previous employer).

If not in this fora look in Welding, Bonding & Fastener engineering

KENAT,

Have you reminded yourself of faq731-376 recently, or taken a look at posting policies: What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484
