NVIDIA Tesla with Abaqus

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a new computer with Nvidia Tesla GPU for faster solution with Abaqus.

The computer will probably be a LGA 2011 or LGA 1155 with the fastest processors and sufficient memory.

The analysis are usually static with non-linear material model and multiple parts in frictional contact.

I have a few questions:

1. Does anyone have experience with Abaqus and Tesla for GPU solving?
2. How to enable the program to use the GPU?

first test it with a gf 550 or 560, if it's possible.

Is it possible to use other GPU cards for the same purpose as the tesla?

I doubt gf 550 or 560 can do GPU computing for these programs.. do you have experience?

yes it can do it, since it also supports the compute capability (2.x), but it's not officially supported by simulia.
it's the same on single precision (1 tflop theoretical), but much worse on dual precision.

try to borrow one at first to see if it works and if it does, buy the 580 imo, it's the fastest.

borrow it from the store.
tesla is not needed if you are doing single precision FEA.
