Hi,

What type of seal would I want if I need a seal in which i can slide a shaft through, creating a seal on the outside diameter. I would then like to be able to remove said shaft (maintenance) and replace with another shaft (same size) and again be sealed hopefully without replacing the seal? Basically a seal in which I can slide a shaft in and out of?

Thanks

It depends on the pressure that is being resisted, but a Google search for shaft seals should turn up a lot of information that might help narrow down what is required for your particular use.

Could you provide more information such as process pressure (max and normal - keep in mind, this means the pressure the seal is seeing), process temperature (max, normal, min), type of rotating equipment, rpm (continuous? VFD?), shaft size? Also, is the process fluid hazardous that would require a double seal and accompanying support system?

A split seal is the first option that comes to mind, but without more information it is hard to determine what is needed.

Thanks,
John
