To all:

I'm looking to run an Ansys simulation and constrain the rod inside of the tubing. I want to see the contact/pinch points inside the tubing when the rod is deflected through the other part.

Consider both of them steel, with the tubing being completely rigid and not deflecting.

Is this a buckling simulation? Static Structural? I know what I want to do, but I dont know how. I have been running static structual with a frictionless contact, but I'm not getting anything to work.

See the attached files. I put them in STEP format so they're easily imported.

I'm relatively new to ansys.

Normally you need to set NLGEOM,on and apply an imperfection to the mesh/model. Than it will be a non-lin buckling.
