Presently we are a punching company, but customer demands are causing us to add a laser. I am looking at both 2d and 5 axis in the 2000w to 3000w range. 2d is probably what I will end up with. I have looked at many machines including the Prima models, but I'm unfamiliar with that make. Does anybody have experience with their machines. Where do they fit on the quality scale, ease of use, service availability, etc. I don't want to rule them out because their presence is smaller, but sometimes there are good reasons why their presence is smaller.

If it is 2D you are looking for, add Bystronics, Cincinnati, Prima, Strippit-LVD, Salvagnini.

Good luck on your choice

If you are uncertain on 2D or 5 axis, I would be looking at Prima and Mazak. They are the only ones I know that actually make what you can cosider a 2D machine with 3D capabilities (respectively the DOMINO and the SPACEGEAR)

Well, actually Amada offers a 5-axis machine, the Theta.
It is pretty good at plate as well as 3-d stuff.
cheers

I provide motion control systems to several laser end-users, Integrators, and OEM's. Try looking at the following Integrators / OEM's that I know:

1. Innovative Laser Technologies - ILT
2. Preco Laser Systems (Formerly Laser Machining, Inc)
3. AltaMAR Laser & Control.
4. Laserdyne Systems (Prima already mentioned)

These are first (3) laser Integrators, Preco does make their own lasers and integrated in others, but not sure if they are at that high of power. All in the Upper Midwest area.

Higher a Laser Engineer and build the system yourself is an option.

I can Help you, to build your own system. We do integrations and also laser cutting 2d and 3d . Let me know if you decided to buy new or do it your self or buy used ! laser3lc@laser3lc.com
