building a mono sloped/lean to/ skillion.. Goes by many names I just need the type of beam I should be using.. we hired a structural engineer and he’s ending up to be too busy to delayed and I just need an honest answer.. I am a software engineer so structural engineering is not my forte 😀..

The house is 32 x 32 mono sloped ridge height is 30 feet going to be on a slab.. I really would like to do a steel beam as opposed to an I joists or wood of any kind what options and what do you recommend..

If the beams are to span from one side of the house to the other (32') with no supports in between, will likely require wide flange beams with a depth (D) of at least 14" (designated W14). More likely W16.

This is not a DIY project, you will need a structural engineer to design the roof, the slab, and everything in between.

absolutely… we have built several houses.. Diy is not on the table..

thank you for responding..

my follow-up question would be to is that since this property is going to be in the woods from what I understand metal framing is the way to go to reduce the chances of termite damage.

Thank you for your input will give my wife comfort to know there is option other then wood..
