Fellow Stress Engineers:

Ref. Neuber's Formula (Roark 7, pp 774 & 778).

In the past I have used this formula to determine an effective stress concentration from a single gross stress. This time I have axial & bending stresses. I can apply Peterson 2, Charts 4.3 & 4.80 separately. If I were considering axial or bending alone I would apply Neuber as set out in Roark. My question is contained in the attachment.

Thanks in anticipation.
