I am looking for a 4 inch thick insulation to wrap a pressure vessel that will operate at 375F. Is there such a product that I could say have molded to fit the tank heads perfectly? Perhaps a molded ceramic? I am concerned about heat resistivity (of course) as well as aesthetics....I do not want a ratty looking blanket or something of the like. Any ideas? The surface of the insulation must be able to be touched by a human hand with no burns.

There are several questions to ask. How will the insulation be held in place? Straps or weld pins? Is this a round vessel, what is the radius? You may be able to find an economical rigid product to fit your radius. Could be Cacium silate, Cellular glass, or ridgid mineral fiber. Otherwise you are limited to a flexible wrap. For strange shapes there are insulating cement products which are applied like a plaster. Will the insulation be exposed to abuse or outside weather? If so you will need a field applied jacket of aluminum or stainless steel. The jacket will cover less attractive insulation. If this is a stainless steel vessel be careful as some insulation products in contact with stainless cause corrosion.

What the physical parameters of your tank?

What is the material of construction?

Indoor or out door?

This is a 36" OD x 36" high (spool section) 7 gage carbon steel vessel used inside the cabinet of a machine indoors, not exposed to any elements.
