Hello everybody!

My name is Roman. I'm rookie in US engineering. I studied mechanical engineering in my country (Ukraine). I see differences in standarts of drafting & other branches. So I need basic help. Can someone give me advice what literature should I choose to get required general knowledge in rules & standarts of US engineering, draftings etc.

Thank you!

I do not think working to older standards is all that uncommon, based on my past experience. The aerospace industry seems like it is better. I was previously employed in the machine tool industry for over 30 years and that was all old company standards that were derived from older national standards and "standard industry practices”. So I am not too sure you need to feel all that different. We currently use the ASME Y14.5M-1982 standard here, I have pushed for the 1994 or 2009 but there is not much interest in change.
