Hi guys. Anybody have any idea what the Section VIII P-number (or S-number), or the A105 Material Group, is for A694 flanges? These are the flanges for X-grade pipe. I suppose I could just use the same P-number as for X42 (S-1) but I'd rather see it in printed form for the flange, first. Thanks! Pete

A694 doesn't appear in ASME B 16.5, which is why you should be using ANSI/MSS SP 44 for these flanges as this does cover it.

Sounds though more like a welding question?

You will find A694 in ASME Section IX, Table QW-422. It is a P-No. 1

ASME breaks the P-No. down further by by a Group No. sub-category depending on the grade of A694. The Group No. sub-category is for impact properties.

Assuming you are using an F42 Flange, comparable to X-42 pipe, then it is P-No. 1, Group No. 1

FYI, S Numbers were done away with a few years ago. They no longer exist.

Guys thanks for the replies! Much appreciated.

DVWE - Thanks. I got the S-number in my question from a 2010 version of B31.3. I looked in the current version and, yep, no more S-numbers. That's what I get for getting lazy and not going to go find the current code book. Thanks guys. Pete
