Hi,
I need to build some test equipment to spin a small unit up to 10,000 rpm. In the past, a router motor was used with a flexible shaft to absorb any shaft misalignment. Since a router spins too fast, some sort of reostat was used to regulate its speed. I'd like to just use an adjustable speed router, but they go from 11,000-20,000 rpm which is too fast. A 2:1 gear reduction unit would be perfect but I can't find one that will accept 20,000 rpm input speeds. Any body know of a company that can get me a unit like this? Or maybe a motor capable of 10,000 rpm and about 1 hp??
Thanks in advance.

Do a search for Electric Spindles. There are a lot of rebuilt ones out there.
