Searched through the first hundreds pages of California Residential code - is it now necessary to fire proof spray on fire protection for structural steel frame in California residential or can I leave design such that visible beams will look more attractive?

I can't speak to California directly, but generally if it's single family residence, no rating should be required. Multi tenant is a different animal.

Hi jayrod12 Yes, I am thinking of California in particular. Very cautious codes have been created here, we seem to have a lot of lawyers. Example - sprinklers in all new residential (yes) Solar panels in all new residential (unless absolutely impossible) So, I m hoping somebody knows what the regs are on fireproofing steel in single family residential in CA

Geez, it's no wonder no one can afford to buy houses down there without selling limbs.
