Natural Gas Pipe Seismically Exempt?

Is a natural gas pipe inside/outside a building allowed to be exempt from seismic bracing if it is less than 2-1/2" in interior diameter and/or mounted less than 12" from top of pipe to supporting structure?

What is the design code for the pipe?
If its in a compressor station, probably not.

I want to follow IBC 2006 regulations. In summary, 'Is a pipe used to transport high hazard material allowed to use either or neither of the 12" rule or small pipe size exemptions?'
