Naming PLC TAGS

Hello,

I need to find a standard method (IEEE, ISA, etc.) to name I/O control signal TAGS.

Any Suggestions?

ISA S5.1 is best for process intrumentation tags. This is recognized in API RS 14C and other standards as the normal scheme. S5.1 is used internationally with a unit prefix, process related the first alpha such as F for Flow, P for Pressure, followed by function such as T for transmitter or V for valve, C for control, a loop number and various suffixes for parallel trains, duplicate units, etc. Plan assorted additional suffixes for internal programming signals based upon the field instrument tag.

I like a Hierarchical tag numbering system that goes down as far as you need. S5.1 is used for the Instrument part of the following (eg the PT01 bit)
Area1.V101 - unit V101 in area Area1
Area1.V101.PT01.PV - the first PT for unit V101 in area Area1
Area1.V101.PT01.HH - the set point for the high high alarm
Area2.F121.FC01.SP - the set point for FC01 in unit F121 in Area2
Area2.F121.FC01.K - the Gain of FC01 etc
Area2.F121.XV01 - the first on/off valve in the unit
Area2.F121.XV01.Man - The Manual command to the valve
Area2.F121.XV01.Rem - The Remote auto command to the valve
And so on.
