I'm running AutoCad 2000i. The screen background is black. After clicking on any icon in BOM database toolbar, my crosshair changes the color from white to black, thus disappears on the screen. Does this program have missing files or this is just operating system problems?

I don't know the solution of Your Problem. Some ideas:
-> try "reinit" the files
-> install service-packs (2) -> -> are You running applications?
-> is Your videocard ok?
