Mounting A Light Switch In A Hallway

I have someone asking me if there are any codes standards regarding the mounting of lighting
switches in a Hallway, ...near doors.

Is there a minimum or maximum distance away from
doors that light switches [ i.e. - snap switches ]
are actually required to be installed ? 12",
...36, ...48", ...60", ...any ?
