Good afternoon,

Being an advanced user of SAP2000 I am starting right now with ETABS because of its design capabilities for concrete walls.

I have found plenty of information regarding shear walls, but not so much about basement walls.
As far as I have understood, shear walls design is based in defining piers and spandrels which work mainly under in-plane forces.
But basement walls, additionally to in-plane forces, also have out-of-plane flexure and shear due to soil pressure.
What would be the best way to model basement walls in ETABS?
How should I define the design parameters for ETABS to consider both in and out-of-plane behaviour?

Thanks in advance.

ETABS will report and design for out of plane forces (V33 and M22) for defined piers.
