hello colleagues,
Let's look at the case of a roof for a residential building in the shape of a pyramid trunk, with metal beams on the contour of the faces in horizontal planes at successive levels in height and beam elements in the plane of the faces (the faces are defined as if they were a grid of beam elements). How to model the shell elements on each face in SAP2000 to obtain only the efforts in the beams located in the horizontal planes?
Consider thin shell elements (thin shell, say 1cm thick) with simultaneous membrane and flexural behavior, with reduced values for the stiffness factors f12 and m12 (say 1e-3) and the remainder with the unity factor?
What is your opinion? Thanks in advance for your contribution.

That's a lot of words to describe the shape of the roof. Add a figure to make the question easier to answer?
