Modeling friction and frictional coefficient measurement

What are the best practices in measuring frictional coefficients if one or both bodies involved in the interaction are highly deformable and sticky? How would you go about modeling such a phenomenon? I already have a strategy on paper but would like to get some input from the experts here.
