Modeling Bone/Cartilage Using Abaqus

As you may know bone is an anisotropic material. I am wondering if anyone has used ABAQUS for modeling bone and can offer suggests on material properties that need to be inserted after the anisotropic material has been selected (23 parameters). Also any suggestions on modeling cartilage (viscoelastic) are welcomed.

use: *elastic, type=engineering constants.

You can define it as orthotropic or transversly isotropic (a pretty good approximation). the values you use will depend on the size scale you are dealing with since the tissue level moduli are much higher than those observed at the macroscale, due to the orientation of the haversian system and porosity. there is plenty in the literature about this. see ref below:
