We are thinking of fabricating a lab reactor (essentially a small pressure vessel) to test out various reactions at lab scale. Approx. 5 Litre volume and capable of taking up to 50 bar pressure.
What might be the most versatile material of construction to go for? There would be no universally OK material I do realize but based on typical chemicals encountered what options might be worth considering?
I am thinking Hastealloy-C. It seems OK for everything we handle right now: HCl / H2SO4 / H2
Teflon sleeves / lining can be an option but I really like resistant metals best than the risk of a bad lining & corrosive material leaking in to the space between liner & base metal.
